We are delighted to share the news that Councillor Douglas Hamandishe, a valued member of our School Governing Body, has been appointed Mayor of Medway for 2026–2027.
The Mayor holds an important civic role as the First Citizen of Medway, representing the area, championing the community and chairing Full Council meetings.
Councillor Hamandishe has been a dedicated governor at The Victory Academy, bringing thoughtful leadership, insight and a strong commitment to supporting young people. Alongside his work in education, he has more than 20 years’ experience as an NHS mental health nurse and has also worked as a consultant and author, reflecting his passion for supporting people and strengthening communities.
His mayoral theme of ‘Community Cohesion’ strongly resonates with our school’s values, Belong and Achieve, recognising the importance of inclusion, opportunity, and collective responsibility in helping all young people thrive.
We are incredibly proud to have Councillor Hamandishe as part of our governing body and are delighted to see his commitment to public service recognised in this way.
On behalf of our whole school community, we offer our warmest congratulations and very best wishes for a successful and impactful year in office.
