Sixth Form Bursary

Government Bursary Fund

From September 2011, a new Bursary fund was issued to schools and Academies to support students who might struggle with the costs of full-time education or training.  As a full-time Sixth Form student you may be eligible. If you are in one of the following groups, then you may be eligible for a Bursary:

  • Young people in care and care leavers.
  • Young people in receipt of Income Support. (This will include some teenage parents, young people estranged from their families, and those whose parents have died).
  • Disabled young people receiving both Employment Support Allowance and Disability Living Allowance.

The Victory Academy Bursary

If you are facing severe financial difficulties and may need support to help you to stay in education or training, you can apply for the Sixth Form Bursary. The Bursary can be used for course-related costs such as books, meals, equipment or transport. This may be paid as a cash payment or we may provide ‘in kind’ support – for example, by purchasing for you the equipment needed for a particular course. The Academy Bursary Committee will decide on what help they are able to offer you and what conditions you might need to meet, such as attendance and progress towards grades.

Please contact us for further information on the Bursaries available.
